MEI Trio
Esteban Algora, accordion, Alessandra Rombolá, flutes, Horacio Curtí, shakuhachi.
MEI trio is the first Spanish group which presents a wide overview of Japanese music, from traditional music Koten Honkyoku for Shakuhachi to the most representative contemporary composers, Takemitsu and Hosokawa among others.
The group starts its activity in 2004, strong with the idea of a deep understanding of the Japanese music through the investigation of its tradition and the relations between the new contemporary language and some elements of the ancient musical world.
This project pretends to give a different point of view on the interpretation of contemporary Japanese music, driving the attention of the listener to the unity and continuity with the strong musical traditions, the main aesthetic and culture in Japan and its relations with the western world.
